Our Mission
Guardians of the Gulf leverages the power of real-time, multisensory tools to stimulate interest in STEAM fields among underserved youth, with a specific focus on coastal resiliency and environmental stewardship.

The grand challenges facing humanity, such as climate change and coastal resiliency, require diverse perspectives if they are to be solved with innovative solutions. However, oceanography is one of the least diverse fields of science. Little progress in ethnic and socioeconomic diversity in this field has been made in the last 40 years. In order to get these diverse perspectives in place, programming that effectively targets and engages youth early on is needed to ensure equity and inclusion.
